Local Deepwood Youth Launch Fly Tying Business – March 2015

Mason and Palmer Kasprowicz launched their business last August and have been very busy filling orders for various fans of fly fishing. They are active members of Trout Unlimited where they regularly set up a table with their flies and take orders.

Mason is 13 years old and a student at Langston Hughes. Palmer is 11 and a student at Hunters Woods. They both have a strong grounding based on previous training by their grandfather, who is a highly accomplished tyer of salmon flies.  Mason and Palmer were instantly hooked on tying and have become quite talented, even creating their own fly designs.

Their profits are going into their college funds. Both boys are interested in studying engineering.

They have been learning a great deal about website development, advertising, marketing, inventory tracking, shipping and finances. Their mentor, George Paine, is a walking advertisement for their hats and shirts, as well as, a witness to the effectiveness of their flies.
